There are many area attractions up and down the Southern Maine Coast.  With Wells near the center of it all, you will have your choice of plenty of things to do no matter which direction you travel. We can only provide a short list for you here, but we suggest you contact the area Chambers of Commerces listed at the bottom of this page to acquire a more complete listing.

Wells Attractions

Wells Beaches:Besides the main Beach, Wells has two other beaches at Crescent Beach and Drakes Island Beach.  There is also a beach or two in nearby Moody.  Altogether about 9 miles of beaches. Take your pick!
Wells Beach.

Wells Trolley:One of the best ways to have fun, see theWells Trolley will take you many places. sights and get around.  The Wells Trolley makes stops at many locations all along route 1, and at some inland locations, in Wells about every half hour.  Sit back, relax and take the Trolley. The Wells Trolley will take you to Wells Beach!  You can even make a Trolley connection to get to Ogunquit, and visit Ogunquit Beach.
 

Wells Harbor Fest Days / Chili Fest: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, in July, 2004 the Wells Harbor Days Wells Harbor Park Festival.Fest will take place at Wells Harbor Park. Last year over 10,000 people attended the Fest. Also, on Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12, 2004 the "International Chili Festival" will take place.  There are weekend events scheduled at Wells Harbor Park throughout the summer, including an "Elvis" show, as well as a summer concert series.  Please contact the Wells Chamber of Commerce for more information.

Rachel Carson Wildlife Preserve:  Between route 1 Great Blue Heron at Rachel Carson.and the beaches.  Marsh area for the preservation of area wildlife.  If your lucky you'll see a great Blue Heron in the grassy refuge area.  Very scenic and relaxing. 

Laudholm Farms Preserve: Another wildlife preservation area with many walking trails, some leading to unique small beach spots.  Scenic seascapes and many birds and other wildlife. Nice morning or afternoon walk.

Wells Antique Auto Museum: Located on Route 1 in Wells. There are over 70 antique automobiles on displayWells Antique Auto Museum including a 1963 Studebaker Avanti, 1949 Cadillac Fleetwood, and 1907 Stanley Steamer. The museum is open seasonally from the middle of June through September from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  It also open on the weekends from Memorial Day through Columbus Day weekends. Wells Mini Golf and Driving Ranges: There are three mini golf areas in Wells.  Great family fun.  There are also two driving ranges nearby.

Meriland Ridge and other Golf Courses :Plenty of golf courses in the area A challenging nine hole course off route 1 on Coles Hill Road. There's a small restaurant there also. Ask for directions. There are also several professional 18 hole golf courses nearby in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, and the surrounding towns.
 

Wells Wheels and Waves: This is one of the areas bicycle, and surf shops, located on route 1 near Beach Acres.  Bike rentals available. Surf equipment.

Antiques and Used/Rare Bookstores: Well, you've Wells has many splendid antiques.found it.  Wells in the unofficial antique and used/rare bookstore capital of the world.  Many, many, many of them lined up and down Route 1, as well as on the main roads leading off of route 1.  You only need to drive a short while to spot one or an entire village of antique dealers or used and rare book shops. Contact the Wells Chamber of Commerce for a map showing their locations.

Wells Five Star Cinema Complex: A multi screen cinema at the Wells Shopping Plaza, featuring first run movies.

Area Restaurants: The finest seafood and steak Great Seafoodrestaurants on the coast.  Besides our famous seafood and lobster, there are many other dining options including Italian, Mexican, fast food and Ice Cream shops.  You won't have trouble finding them, but you might want to ask the locals which ones are the best.  We are friendly here!
 
 

Ogunquit Attractions
Perkins Cove: Scenic cove with quaint shops, restaurants, village shopping, and boat rides. A good half day full of scenic fun. You'll enjoy browsing through the many diverse shops and having lunch or dinner at the many restaurants in the "Cove".
 

Marginal Way:  Walk the Marginal Way and see beautiful Marginal Wayseascapes, rocky coastline and beautiful Ogunquit Beach.  Seniors can do this, as well as kids.  Take the camera. The walk will bring you into Perkins Cove from Ogunquit.  Nice way to spend an afternoon.

Ogunquit Beach: Truly a wonderful beach.  Nice sandyBeautiful Ogunquit Beaches.mounds, scenic views of coastal Ogunquit, restaurants and quick food available. Plenty of parking, or a short walk from the center of Ogunquit.  Trolley service to the beach is available every half hour during the summer months.

Ogunquit Playhouse: Features broadway and off-Broadway productions where you can catch some famous stars performing summer stock!  Call (207) 646-2402 for more details.

Ogunquit Chamber Music Festival:Chamber Music Festival. June 14 - 16, 2002.  String Quartet and Boston Chamber Music Society perform classical favorites.  More performers!  Sponsored by The Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce (207) 6464 2939.
 

Ogunquit Fourth of July Fireworks Display:Fireworks Display in Ogunquit. At Ogunquit Beach 9:30 p.m.  This is regarded as the best area fireworks.  Come early to get a great seat.  A nice magical evening in Ogunquit.
 
 


York And Cape Neddick

Beaches:  Short Sands Beach is a great family beach with Long Sands Beach and Short Sands Beach.a parking area, a playground, a bathhouse and some basketball courts.  Close by is Long Sands Beach with over a mile and a half of sandy beach.  Parking,  a bathhouse and some restaurants are available at Long Sands Beach.

Nubble Light: One of the most famous and Nubble Lightphotographed lighthouses in Maine.  Breathtaking.  Great photos to be taken of the historic lighthouse, truly a scenic area.  Bring you lunch. Take your camera. There is ample parking area close to the lighthouse viewing area.

Kennebunkport and Kennebunk Attractions
Kennebunk Beaches: Kennebunk has several small Beaches in Kennebunkbeaches which you can easily get to from Wells.  Mother's Beach, Parson's Beach and Kennebunk Beach provide several great beach options to choose from while visiting Kennebunk. 
 

Kennebunkport Village: Nice shopping village with many Kennebunkport, MEquaint restaurants and scenic views.  You might see George and Barbara Bush at Windows On The Water restaurant across the bridge in Kennebunk's Lower Village! The Christmas prelude takes place here in case you were interested in visiting us around the beginning of December.
